GNCTR 2014

Western University is excited to host the 40th Anniversary of The Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. The first GNCTR took place in 1975 in Red Deer, Alberta. The event brings together more than 400 students from the top engineering programs across the country.

GNCTR on Daily Planet

In 2010, Discovery's Daily Planet covered the story of the engineering toboggan race. The 36th anniversary of the event was a great success, with the University of Alberta stealing the show as Overall Champions.

Rick Mercer Visits GNCTR

Canadian comedian and television personailty Rick Mercer attended GNCTR in 2011 to gain further understanding of this national event. Rick became part of the UofA's team, steering their sled down the slopes in Alberta!
